The Seastars are the swim team of the Powhatan Secondary neighborhood, and  participate in the summer swim season as part of the Virginia Peninsula Swim Union.  To participate on the swim team, swimmers must be a child or grandchild of a resident in a Powhatan Secondary subdivision, be a HOA member in good standing with pool privileges, and have registered for the swim team.  

 

The last few years the Seastars have averaged 100 swimmers, ranging in age from 4 to 18 years old.  Registration opens in April, and the season typically begins at the end of May and concludes by the first week of August.  In addition to daily practices, we have 6 swim meets in the summer as well as a Summer Awards and Championship meet at the end of the season.  

 

The Seastars swim team is a great opportunity for our neighborhood youth.  While swimming offers excellent physical exercise, the team also helps our athletes by promoting self-esteem, experience with setting and attaining goals, sportsmanship and teamwork.
